Sandy Saturday and the Soup of the Day is Tomato

Miss Sybil had a beach day today.  I would love to get so excited about something that I felt the need to run a figure of eight really fast.  Also waves are a problem and something to be attacked, chased and mauled .  So about 4-5 litres of saltwater was consumed.  Then promptly thrown back up next to my beach towel.  We also dug a hole, body slammed a puppy and took a nice big aqua turd on the sand dune.

The twinkle in her eye could possibly be a seagull ...

Dog ownership, it's a wonderful rewarding experience that requires a plastic bag.

Except if you're Linda, I doubt she's eve had to pick up a steaming morning turd

Much love got my bunny and it looks darn fantastic on her uber cool orange dress.  If you want one too just comment here.  Also for more free cool stuff see Kitty Boo Boo's blog for a vintage kids pattern that needs a new home.

Typeface and words and old books and fabric and ponies all float my boat.  So I am quite happy that the craft think tank down at Sophie Isobel Design is custom making me a 'I heart Ponies' fabric brooch ... they are cheap, gorgeous and original and most importantly handmade and very clever little pieces of unique art.

A very cool brooch from Sophie Isobel Design

I need tea, I was going to go thrifting but this heat is better for lazing about at home missing my weekend tea drinking boy and drinking tea with the dog.

New brooches I have up on Etsy

want .. but trying to stick to 2 Etsy purchases a month, good thing tomorrow is March

Last day of summer ...

Duck for Cover it's Thursday

The culinary bunny will be off to Indonesia to see babalisme and just hang with this crazy cat for a while. This week I have a flying duck that wants you, if you'll only leave a comment.

My Grandfather used to have a set of the full kitsch ceramic flying ducks hanging in his dining room.  When my father recently went down to clean the house out he told me he threw so much crap out (he's a hoarder). I had a chill with the thought of those ducks in the Otto. Thank god they were not relegated to the trash after I said 'I want them'. They are hanging in his new home in a aged care facility, constantly suspended in mid flight, going nowhere.

More quack crack and some duck insights to get you down ...

pretty birds with ducklings on some string from here

Duck and cover your passport with tinymeat

this is not a duck ... dedicated to the diving horses of Atlantic City. Poor horses, bet they'd rather be kitsch flying ducks.

Tuesday I got No Love But I Have Put a Voodoo Curse on my Estate Agent

Thought I'd pop a note in here about the new madeit.com site.  They have their new look site up and running.

It does look better, yet I am still not 100% sure that it is as easy to use as Etsy.

It is an Australian site and I will give it a go however as I would prefer to sell from a local platform.

For a bunny good time see here ... and leave a comment

And now for some Australian stuff ... mostly good but some so bad it's almost good.

Thursday Hop To It Beatrix

The lucky bunny that gets the rabbit is Much Love ... I hope the castaway finds your lapel safe and sound.  This Thursday another bunny hops onto the scene in honour of my little bro getting a top job in WA as a head chef at a very very cool boutique resort.  This bunny likes to chop, grate, dice and then garnish.  If you want the horses doovers of a brooch then just leave a comment ...

For a really cool ecard with a silly little rabbit who didn't listen to his mother go to the Beatrix Potter website.

Wednesday and a Love Letter I Shoulda Got Yesterday

My Tuesday love letter arrived today.

As I was walking home to check my mail box the most beautiful sun shower started.  I just started grinning like a fool, with my face up to the sun and the big fat hot drops of rain.  A guy walking past me thought I needed a lobotomy I'm quite sure.

Beautiful print from Maile Lani

So my mail box heralded my shrinky dink ring ... woot!!

Ring from Dillon Designs ... ring now on My Finger

And a quite raunchy little love note or porn note from Spain.  Pedro (not kidding that's his name) thoughtfully covered up the bit in the magazine page where I do believe a lingam is involved with a yoni (thank you pocket Kama Sutra).

The said nudie, rudie bits are covered with some wax and a crucifix.  Odd love letter.  But any love letter Tuesday that has the gall to arrive on a Wednesday has got to be a bit out there.

You get the gist !!  not quite romance and sonnets, but a love letter none the less

So here's to love letters (arriving late) and sun showers ...

Tuesday Ampersand Alvar Aalto ... & Proximidade

I received my print from the beautiful Joutomaa.  It's so lovely it's going down as my Tuesday love letter.

I got a sweet email, but it had no postage stamp so it does not count.

It's raining again and I look around this house and realise all my beautiful things are on the wall or old books or my mother's spinning wheel.  All my furniture is crap.  It's all come to me flat packed.  It's all been put together with a key called 'Allen' and a lot of swearing and some long term relationship breakers.  I want an Alvar Aalto chair to to sit in and think 'god dam it, this is a nice chair'.  I also want an ampersand to uncurl himself with me on the chair.  Then he'll no longer be 'and' he'll just be a line I can use.

and what huh ??? from weheartit.com

When me and my rock 'n' roll lover become famous (and rich) we'll buy these chairs and let the cats scratch them and let the dog chase the cats and knock the vase over ... it'll be cool, cause we'll be rich and who cares anyway ... from Spruce Home ... see here for more shit you can't afford but just LOVE

Come on baby let's lay down here and make love ... Tex says it best, but you'd be sort of more 'sitting' than laying ... love you Alvar

Mr Perkins you are the definition of Sex on Legs

The beautiful Little Chrissy tagged me with an award ... I was hoping it was for 'nicest bottom to squeeze' but alas it was not.  So in return I am tagging eight other delightful blogs who keep me up at night and post pictures of things I'd like to eat, wear or have.

This blog invests and believes in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes for self-aggrandizement!

Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!

The rules are: This blog award should be sent to your favorite eight bloggers and they, in turn should forward to eight of their favorites. You should include the text for Proximidade (above) in your announcement blog.

Sunday let the Sunshine in

Sun came out ... excellent. Miss Sybil had a bath, nothing like a little bit of Chinese water torture on a Sunday. We even conditioned. After a mad figure of eight dash about the lawn (actually currently jungle due to 2 foot high grass) we basked in the sun for a little while.

Took the Vax 2000 for a spin ... it doesn't get out much due to my disgust at the thought of house work. Then we moped, and had lovely shiny wooden floors. Then the basking hound waltzed back through the house and muddy paw prints and tumble weeds of hound hair undid all my work.

I have Beyonce's little ditty stuck in my head. It's called an earworm.

The term earworm is the literal English translation of the German word ohrwurm. An earworm is also sometimes called a sticky tune or a cognitive itch. Subscriber 9 to word spy) Isa Mara Lando of Brazil tells me that in Portuguese they call it chiclete de ouvido, or ear chewing gum.

Grey is the day that is this Saturday

Went to Paddo for a coffee and a twitter with some lovely folks from Brisstyle in the pouring rain.  There was lots of talking, coffee tea spoon 'clinking', two conversations at once, swapping ideas, ohhhing and ahhhhing over show and tell bits and bobs and there were less pauses in conversation that there is full stops in this exceptionally long sentence.

For a bunny good time and the chance for some free stuff click here ...

For the definition of 'good day to stay in bed with a man, a cup of tea and book by Hemingway click here ...

So on this grey old day I have featured some grey things from some of the Brisbane crew ...

1. Lovely fused glass 'early grey' studs from Hot Toffee

2. Father's little dividend by Ruby2gogo - enviro resin brooch

3. A bonnie little jelly from Little Jellygnite

It's drizzling, and it's not like Paris in the winter when it drizzles.  It's warm and humid and raining on my tin roof.  The tomato plants are digging it, the zucchini vine is like something out of Day of the Triffids and the dog smells like mouldy bread.  Happy valentines day, it's oh so romantic this valentines day in Bris Vegas ...

Friday and it's Russia with LCA Love

I got a roll of 35mm film back yesterday.  It got rolled off in Russia last year in September.  I took my little Lomo LCA (Audrey) back to her roots.
Back to her KGB, lomo life of a Russian spy.
She loved it as did I.

I was pretty happy with the results.  The colour saturation, the tone, the imperfection of the old film and the dust on the lens.  It also brought back the goodtime feeling I had in that wonderful (chaotic but wonderful) country.  If I go back it will be to St Petersburg to stroll in Catherine's Summer Garden (with a lover) and then to bask on the banks of Lake Baikal eating smoked Omul and reading poetry.

For more about the strange and wonderful world of all things Russian and Lomo see www.lomography.com

Cheap trinkets to be had here, also a bit of religion if you go for that sort of thing
