Sew, Snow and a new Site to tickle your Fancy

My next market is this weekend ... I am about to embark on a 5 day brooch binge and lacquer myself silly in preparation for Sunday. Also I am sending some gear down to Melb to site in a incube8r cube. I checked out the shop on my trip down to the South and the slopes. It's such a funky little joint! You can check out their blog here www.incube8r.blogspot.com.

I will also be sewing my ass off to get more softies made and I am having a stab at mixed media cards ... using romance novels and children's books to make little gift cards ... come down and see me if you're in Brisbane this weekend.

Bunny in the Headlights ...

The wonderful clever chooks over at the BrisStyle marketing team have whipped up a new website ... it's brilliant, it lists all the BrisStyle gals and features interesting things ... Another interesting thing is that I can move my little toe independently of the others. See the site here at www.Bris-Style.com ...

Dita ... whipping it up form www.weheartit.com

And lastly some snow ... ah holidays, they are certainly better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

OMG snow ... got a bit squealy in the car about now

Spitting is unacceptable

'Bus operators are now equipped with DNA kits to assist with the apprehension of offenders'

... no shit this is the sign I saw on the bus today.

www.weheartit.com

Are they going to take a cheek swab from everyone as they get on the bus? "That'll be two ninety and here's a cue-tip." Anyway the offender this week is Rhubarb and wine, the Pixie bunny is all yours ... I have a caring sharing little heart to give away this week ... all you need to do to win it is leave a comment on this post.

Hey Ass Hat move to the Back of the Bus and Rest In Peace Dot and Sanchez

I hate to start on a bad note, but I just found out that the chickens have met an untimely end. Dot and Sanchez the chickens have been killed by a feral cat. We will bury them and say some words;

"Dot and Sanchez, you were great chickens,
who laid us lots of eggs that we scrambled
and you really liked corn and grasshoppers ...
we will miss you, and we will build a better chook house
for your replacements"

the oh so clever and ever so appropriate Marc Johns ...

Now on a happier note Tracy Jacks has won the harky bird ... she's scared of needles but wants a tattoo ... my advice is have a Mars bar before you go in and just don't look ... This week I have a bunny to give away it's a pixie bunny, he's very cute and if you want it just leave me a comment x

Win this ... Oh how delightful

I was a little marketer this weekend, again with the help of my clever mum. We did the Portside Boutique markets. We had a good run, not as good as the Young Designers Market, but this was only the second time it has been on, so it's building up a reputation.

Anyway while I was there Mum bought me a sweet as little red felt brooch with a beautiful big wooden button from Sandrine, who also made me a custom felt neck warmer! Here are some dicky picks of me wearing my green felt creation. I had lots of comments on it today ...

I will be taking my little green felt number to the snow this weekend ... skiing. In need of a holiday as I nearly popped a vein today on the bus due to the ass hats in the middle NOT MOVING DOWN ... it's not that hard people really. People get off, space becomes available move your fat arse into the now vacant space. But no, they stand there wondering where the chomosomome they are missing might be ...

snow ... peaceful snow, with a log fire and the most wonderful gorgeous boy ...

This post has nothing to do with Christmas carols or angels ... I just wanted to use the word 'hark' in the title. And thought a mondegreen was appropriate.

Two chickens ... one called Unit and one called Percy

A big house full of my stuff with my dog lying on a rug having a dream about chasing cats ...

Brooches in the oven ...

The markets on the weekend went brilliantly. The BrisStyle Indie Designers market had been promoted so well by the promo girls that we had a constant stream of crafty, arty, hungry for handmade men and women rummaging through our stuff and buying up big. I sold so many brooches and necklaces I am taking a private jet to the Bahamas for breakfast.

The next day we got up and did it all again, this time at Southbank. We also did well there but the grandeur of Saturdays money grubbing made us high on the smell of notes and greedy for more! I am almost out of stock though so the two days I have taken off to hang out with my mum while she's here will be spent cutting, lacquering, cutting and more lacquering.

I have honed a new technique for brooching. I tried the 'oven dry'. Usually I do a 'batch' and leave them overnight to dry. I found if I turn the oven on low for 5 minutes, turn it off and leave it for another 5-10 minutes it's just warm and dry and the brooches dry in about 2o minutes. Then your flatmate comes home and turns the oven on to roast some vegetables and whacks the oven on ... what's that burning plastic smell?

Some of the wares I walked away with after the market ...

a puppy, cute little puppy from Edward and Lilly

a pretty pink little lolly drop from Hot Toffee
(these are earrings obviously, but I have yet to take a photo of my little pendant)

I bought buttons from Miss Kitty Boo Boo ... these aren't them (duh!) but they are real prudey

fabric from Red Seed Studio ...

and lastly a borrowed pic from the wonderful Twinkle Star Art ... who documented the whole market and you can see the photos on her Flicker page here
