Epic ... post

It has been a massive, unproductive (craft wise) week. After many weeks away my partner in residential crime arrived home from South America. The next day we hauled our arses off to Soundwave where we saw Jane's Addiction and Faith No More, got fermented fruit level drunk and danced like we didn't care who was watching (in any case nobody was!). Sunday was spent regretting I had not made myself up-chuck the previous night, and hence smelling like a TAB carpet. Monday I had to turn sideways to talk to people at work due to 'mosh neck'. Then off to Melbourne for a mini break.

Jane's Addiction ... very cool

Me with a superstar ?? no just Will

Being a Melbourne statue

And it keeps raining here in Brisbane, it has rained all day. I walked from work to dance and was amused at how much there is to think about when observing umbrellas. Some ladies have very nice brand umbrellas, I love the Oroton ones. Some have cute vintage ones, some have stupidly big ones with logos for golf, lawyers, or technical equipment and some have shitty broken ones that look like a lame fruit bat is hovering above them. I have a bubble one that is see-through with colourful polka dots ... very festive in the drippy rain.

I have the BrisStyle Indie Markets on this weekend ... so rain, rain, go away, come again another day! I will have all my cards, brooches etc. there so if you're in town get yourself along. The winner of the mail pack from ages ago is Lightning Heart ... this week I have more mail, cards, letter stuff to post out to someone ... just leave me a comment and it could be yours!!!

BrisStyle you ROCK ... f**k it's wet here

Heidi ho folks, I got home yesterday to find 4 beautiful little parcels in my letter box. One was my letter from the Little Spoon. Ah very cute and even smelt good with an apple and cinnamon tea bag enclosed.

Next were three Esty finds from BrisStyle girls. Purchased Friday night arrived Monday morning. Can you ask for better service than that? I think no.

This picture just asked me to buy it. Love the dusky pink, and combined with jelly beans, what's not to love? Beautifully packaged and for a dead set cheap steal. Birthday, bah mitzvha? See Hey Harriet for all your TV print needs.

Next, also in delightful handmade packaging was this cute button from Denim Days. She also has a booty of cute matryoshka doll stuff like tags, etc. Get over to her Etsy store to see more ...

Lastly these cute earrings from Up In Annie's Room. Simple, pretty handmade earrings and more in her Etsy shop. These will look fantastic in Autumn with a scarf and a little jacket.

All these BrisStyle gems will be at the BrisStyle Indie Designers Market on March 6 at Racecourse Road in Hamilton. And all these little gifts will be bundled up in a parcel for the Happy Mail Exchange ... to show off the BrisStyle talent.

Hussein and the dominions of hate looked like drowned rats today when I came home. I don't think the chickens appreciate the wet weather. Sybil (the hound) however, is much accustomed to the mud, she is quite happy to be damp and smelling like a 12 year old boys laundry basket. Ugh. wanted her to be fresh and clean for the boy's arrival home ... after 5 weeks in Colombia I wonder if she will remember him? I think so, as he's the one with the schmackos.

not my dog ... taken from

Oh and I just saw the new Nescafe ad, vomit. And what is with Jermain Jackson's hair? Why and I doing this in front of the idiot box? Leave me a comment here or on the post below to win a mail pack ... (no boys included).

Pretty bits and pieces in the mail

Another hot summer day in Brisbane ... The chickens are hiding out in the chicken house and the dog is lolling about with her tongue hanging out ... It's hard to get motivated (to clean the house) in this weather.

First off the winner of the musical heart is Art Decadence ... you can see her lovely blog here. This week I will be giving away a mail pack. I love getting mail, though it's few and far between and it's usually just stuff I have bought on Etsy myself! Everyone emails (including me), though I have been mailing out little gifts by way of my giveaways and sometimes participate in mail art projects.

I have been busy making envelopes, and cards to put up in my Etsy shop. These ones are from the Macquarie School Atlas. I think most Australian kids had one of these growing up ... this one is from the LifeLine Bookfest and once belonged to Rebecca Weston. It's be kind of fun to find her and send her a letter (envelope) made from her primary school text book!

Can I have a Cupcake and can you please control your god damn dog?

I made the first batch of Kitchenaid cupcakes. Lime and meringue cupcakes, they were so good. I sat down and ate one with an affogato and watched the big fatties run about and cry, then I cried. We all cried, but they didn't get a cupcake. Both kitchen items were gifts from Veikko, the cool old dude who happens to be my Grandpa. Thanks Poppy x

I now know that I am the one and only responsible muther f-ing dog owner in this suburb. I took Sybil running today, and by gods I was pretty close to landing a flying kick in the back of the last guys head. I don't usually advocate violence, however when it comes to people who obviously have bypassed 'survival of the fittest' due to their good social standing (I live in a toff suburb) then I can make exceptions. Yes your dog is very clever as he runs alongside you unaided. However meathead, my wily hound likes to eat/maim/kill/tear jugulars form other animals. So please keep your dog on a f***ing leash.

Rained Out ... Foxing and Cupcakes are on the books

Summer sucks. Too hot, and it rains on my markets days. I had to forfeit the market today as paper products do not fare well in torrential downpours. All that preparation, for nothing! I plan to go op-shopping and make cupcakes to try and stem the rage.

I have posted a few foxes on Etsy ... very cute.

And leave me a comment here or on the post below to win a Musical Heart brooch. Winner will be announced next weekend.

WIN ME !!!! Leave a comment to win

The next market (indoors so rain will not dampen my spirits!) will be March 6. The BrisStyle Indie Designers Market ...

Happy Feb 2 Bimbo and Ms Keski-Vähälä

First off ... February 2 of 2010 is a very special day. For two people, a pen and a photographer. I hope Olga lets up for the day and a little bit of Sunshine comes out. x

So while I look-up cute love type, puke inducing photos I am listening to stuff that reminds me of the fluff that I am missing, rather a lot, at the moment. This song is the song he played on my first weekend living with him as I jumped in the shower on a Sunday morning this started cranking out of the speakers. I was all soaped up and dancing like a bit of a tool, wasting water. How daggy were these guys.

I finished reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, was OK for a holiday summer read. Again, I need to reiterate that I am a book snob. I would just die if someone saw me reading Dean Koontz on the bus for example. The first 3 quarters were pretty page-turning good, however toward the end I think he wrapped it all up a little too quickly and conveniently, it was a bit blah. And did Apple sponsor the book? There were a lot of iBook references.

I need a break in between the next one, so I'm back onto my Penguin staple of modern classics. Cold Comfort Farm is proving to be quite good.

Now if you love post, getting post, posting post, licking stamps and the noise of the postie bike then this is the blog post for you. I am in like Flynn. Check out the Happy Mail Exchange. While on letter writing, this is my poem for the silent poetry reading that is happening February 2.

Robert Frost

My long two-pointed ladder's sticking through a tree
Toward heaven still,
And there's a barrel that I didn't fill
Beside it, and there may be two or three
Apples I didn't pick upon some bough.
But I am done with apple-picking now.
Essence of winter sleep is on the night,
The scent of apples: I am drowsing off.
I cannot rub the strangeness from my sight
I got from looking through a pane of glass
I skimmed this morning from the drinking trough
And held against the world of hoary grass.
It melted, and I let it fall and break.
But I was well
Upon my way to sleep before it fell,
And I could tell
What form my dreaming was about to take.

Magnified apples appear and disappear,
Stem end and blossom end,
And every fleck of russet showing clear.
My instep arch not only keeps the ache,
It keeps the pressure of a ladder-round.
I feel the ladder sway as the boughs bend.

And I keep hearing from the cellar bin
The rumbling sound
Of load on load of apples coming in.
For I have had too much
Of apple-picking: I am overtired
Of the great harvest I myself desired.
There were ten thousand thousand fruit to touch,
Cherish in hand, lift down, and not let fall. For all
That struck the earth,
No matter if not bruised or spiked with stubble,
Went surely to the cider-apple heap
As of no worth.
One can see what will trouble
This sleep of mine, whatever sleep it is.
Were he not gone,
The woodchuck could say whether it's like his
Long sleep, as I describe its coming on,
Or just some human sleep.

Lastly ... I am the owner of new ballet flats. They were stupidly expensive, and I bought them on a whim (on a lunch break). Nice ... they sparkle.

And properly 'lastly' click here to win this heart brooch ...
