Chicken Coup

I have three chickens that were raised my the Fijian government. They are holding a coup and going feral. Each day the three of them take themselves on missions up the driveway, into the front paddock and around the neighbourhood.

I have spent the last few weeks building dog/chicken proof fencing and now we are all moved in ... except for the rebel foul army. They are waiting on their new 'coop' to arrive.

Moving is about as much fun as sitting on cold concrete in a leotard. In my ute hauling, box packing, stair negotiating week I have not had time to do much blogging. So this is short but congratulatory. Serendipity over here is the proud owner of a new 'pigeon pair' brooch set. Next post will ham up the Twilight Market that's on the books for this Friday!

Seven things ...

As a continuation from the last post I will now partake in the 'Versatile Blogger' post. Seven things you don't* know about me.

1. I want a pony

2. For my 29th birthday I was taken to a restaurant called 'Pony' ... hell yes!

3. Near enough is usually good enough for me

4. I have six tattoos, three of those six are reindeer

5. I would love to take a trip to Lapland and herd reindeer and eat pickled fish

(the card my Mum made for my 30th)

6. Pickles are my thing, if it's pickled I'll eat it

7. I can spell onomatopoeia out loud

* May know most of these facts already ... but meh!

The importance of tights being ... tight

Being winter the tights and stockings have come out, as have the discussions at work surrounding the ever clever sheeny, running items. A good tight should be tight, you should not be standing in the tea room at work feeling like you've a diaper on and dropped a large cantaloupe into the crotch.

We can't seem to find the perfect tight, do they exist? Some sag in the crotch, some give you nappy rash just under your breasts due to the massive gusset, some have seams in all the wrong places and have you pulling things out of 'cracks' with a hooked pinkie. Who designs these things? Women who have 4ft torsos and need extra room in the crotch area to double as a pouch? I was walking back from the city today behind two bright young things wearing tights, one unfortunately had a very un-tight pair on. It looked like her legs were two purple/flesh coloured earthworms shedding a layer.

One pair of tight, tights I have managed to find that are yay, not nay are from Tightology. Yay! An Australian company using organic cotton. I love mine, they are a good fit, nice and thick, have a lovely soft feel and no 'pooped your pants' feel. Check out their website here ...

Flying ducks has nominated me for the 'Versatile Blogger Award', meaning I can blog while riding a bike underwater and writing lyrics for the North Korean football team. This means I need to tell you seven things about myself ...
1. I am not good at set tasks
2. I will actually do this tomorrow on another post
3. I am going to continue with tight rant for a little longer

From here

So ... if you know of any good tight spots we ladies need to know about please do let me know. I have had a look on Etsy but to no avail. See you soon for an update on the 'pigeon pair' winner and seven things about me you don't need to know but I'll bore you with anyway.

After the market and before the mountain

The BiECO market was excellent. It was fantastic to see the BrisStyle team with new products specifically made for the eco market. Stall holders brought along vintage wares and items that were at least 50% recycled or repurposed. If you want to get your hands on a pair of 'upcycled' pigeons then comment here or on this post to win!

Here are some (just a few) of the BrisStyle crew that were at the market yesterday ...

Angelene was next to me ...

Ali Pink ... had some new stuff ...

And Insulate with her funny cards ...

I walked away with a cool t-shirt scarf number from Kellie Christie and some serious heartburn from a vegan hotdog. My cards were a big hit, most who come along to these markets get the sense of humour.

Not my scarf ... but one similar form Kellie Christie

I am off for a mini-break up a mountain so I won't be blogging for a few days. I am thinking of some new shapes - as people ask me for shapes I don't have all the time. Panda, poodle, bear, turtle etc. I am happy to do woodland creatures but I think I'll steer clear of the turtles and dolphins, they just remind me of growing up in a seaside tourist town. What creatures do you think I should make?

I will be back next week with a post on the wonderful place we are staying. Until then, enjoy the weekend!

Pigeon pair

Three sleeps until the BrisStyle BiECO market! I am busy getting ready, making lots of 'best friend matching pair' sets. I made heaps a while ago and at last market I did at South Bank I had a customer pick up 10 and buy the whole lot! So some restocking is in order.

I have a giveaway this post. To win this 'pair of pigeons' just leave me a comment or re-tweet this post. The winner will be drawn next week. So get commenting.

I found this shop on Etsy this week as I am looking for a birthday present for my Mum. This dog reminds me of her big Lab x Blue Heeler, his name is Merlin. He also looks a little like my Brother's dog 'Moses Brady'. I bought him and sent him off to Finland to my brother and his wife (and Moses). I just love everything in this shop.
