Valentino bunny

The trembling bunny goes to ... Chandlerguera! All the way to Arizona goes the little bunny brooch, it's great to see that she is a fellow postcard and 'fun mail' lover. It's always fun to get mail, real mail, not bills and stationery (as in paper an stuff, but I can never remember if it's 'nary' or 'nery') brochures. So until valentines day I will be running some 'gift card giveaways'.

Starting now ... comment on this post to win a sweet little 'mail pack' to send to your lover, best friend, the guy you've been following home and then watching from the shrubbery and so on and so forth.

Some of my handmade cards

I also got cracking of a batch of new brooches for Etsy and also for upcoming markets. I've been making hearts in preparation for Valentines Day and also a few bunnies for those who aren't quite that sappy.

You're a bit of a softie

Hopefully you've heard about the Handmade Ark ... so far we've raised over $2500. So keep buying up big and help float the Handmade Ark.

One of my brooches in the Handmade Ark

Now over at http://monpetitpoppet.blogspot.com a softie drive is underway.

"At present there are literally thousands of Queenslanders making emergency shelters their home ... All I ask of you to is make one small softie (or oodles if you like!!!) to provide a child in these shelters a small comfort and hope that people are rallying behind them"

I will be sending in a babushka doll softie ... if you'd like to get involved visit her blog and let her know you want 'softie' in!

vajazzle

vuh'jazuhl Colloquial

verb (i) (vajazzled, vajazzling)

1. (of a woman) to decorate the pubic area by applying adhesive crystals to the skin after removal of hair by waxing.

noun 2. the decoration so applied.[VAG(INA) + (BED)AZZLE with g respelled as j to indicate pronunciation]

vajazzling, noun.

Get your votes in voting is now open for the annual Macquarie Word of the Year 2010 competition. The competition that brought us words like 'bromance' and 'shovel ready' has given bloggers everywhere comedic gold with 'vajazzle'. For now here are some pretty 'word' inspired Etsy finds.

BrisStyle's "Handmade Ark" Flood Appeal and trembling rabbit

The craft nation at BrisStyle have banded together and come up with a great fundraising initiative called the Handmade Ark. Read all about it here.

I have added items to the appeal, 100% of the money will be donated to the Premiers Flood Relief Fund. If you want to help the victims of the Queensland floods donate or buy something from the ark. Every little bit helps.

The items I have listed are a bird, an owl and a bunny. Click here to go to my shop and snap them up! Click here to see a list of other Handmade Ark items.

The last post was a giveaway ... I still need to give him (the little bunny) away so if you comment on this post you'll go into the draw to win him!

Follow me ...

It's the new year, I have no resolutions as I am resolute that resolutions are stupid as they are never resolved and I like to tell the Joneses to get stuffed most of the time. So to welcome in 2011 and my renewed energy in my crafting and Etsy shop I'm giving away a brooch, there maybe some more in the weeks to come also. Easy as pie to enter just leave me a comment! A comment with the word 'followed' in it will earn you two entries.

Win this brooch ... made from a vintage children's book.

Vintage readers

Some of the old books I find for my crafting are almost too cute to cut up. I remedy that by telling myself that they were 20c from an op-shop and there will always be more. That said I have a few that I just can't cut up. One was given to me for Christmas last year by the non-crafter partner. My mum also has a good stash of 'uncuttables' at her place. Below are some very cute illustrations from The Story Hour (one that I have cut up).

Ohhh yes a large piece of cake in bed!

This a ye olde one!

Bunnings 'this is what death feels like'

So we went to Bunnings again, and I nearly lost my shit. Everything takes so long, the place is a huge, unorganised space, full of people who are like moles (funny, blind, pointless little creatures that mill about bumping into one another). The bottom lip began to quiver in the 'timber and decking section'. There was sympathy from the second party, however I have vowed never to ever the giant green warehouse again. Until I need bolts. I did find one thing in the 'time void' that we spent there, these bamboo chux wipes. So one polar bear saved (due to my charming eco choice of cleaning product) and one blood vessel in my temple popped, all is good in the world.

Waiting for service at Bunnings from here ...

Can you feed these to panda bears once your done cleaning?

Ahhh ahh Babushka, Babushka, Babushka baby

Babushka (Matryoshka) dolls are so hot right now. They are the macramé owl of this decade (what is this decade called, the tenies?). For Christmas I got a new set, complete with Russian chicken. They live in the bookshelf with the other dolls and trinkets. Now I sound like a batty old lady who has house full of porcelain puppy ornaments and Swarovski crystal swans.
