More vodka please ...

I think Noah had a rough time at sea with two of every animal. I'd want a drink too, can you imagine the smell. This illustration is from a Little Golden Book and the words have been taken from a saucy romance novel. To get your hands on a stiff drink or just some crafty, handmade goodness come and visit the BrisStyle indie Twilight Market - tonight! Get your skates on and come see me for a card, brooch and many more handmade, upcycled bits and bobs.

'More vodka please'

You're a bore, do you know that?

This card will be coming along with me to my next market - the BrisStyle indie Twilight Market - on Friday 29 April from 5pm until 9pm. If some boring bastard doesn't come along and buy it then it will be making a come back at my next market - the Young Designers Market - on Sunday 1 May from 10am until 4pm. If you're intolerably boring then come along and get some culture and some cool handmade stuff while you're at it.

You're a bore, do you know that?

Iggy's bored ... maybe he'll pop in for a market visit?

Don't ruin this moment with reality

Don't you just hate it when you're walking your pet duck down the road, wearing a bonnet and red stockings and you think 'damn, I have to go back to work tomorrow'. Get your fix of reality this week and get yourself an anti-Hallmark card to tell someone you think they're a bit of a nut bag.

How cute is this kid with his horror novel, I bet he'd dig my cards ... from here.

Dave, you idiot!

This Red Setter dog in the Ladybird reader books I use to make my cards just cracks me up, he's in quite a few of the books. He's one of the best characters to give a funny line. This card and many, many more will be at the BrisStyle indie Twilight Market in King George Square on Friday 29 April and on Sunday at the Young Designers Market.

Postal pigeon brings you fun times and sheep

The beautiful website Quiet Paws has got herself a postal pigeon. It won't be 'going postal' as such, I'll just send it in the mail. This week I am going to try and post each day in the lead up to my two markets. On Friday it's the BrisStyle indie Twilight Market in King George Square. And on Sunday I'll be dragging out the craft kit and caboodle again to man a stall at the Young Designers Market.

This card will be at the markets, as will many more. Hope to see you there and here are some more sheepish items from Etsy. Baaaaa.

Pass the ANZAC bikkie darl

ANZAC day is a day for remembrance and respect. That's why it's a damn shame there are people out there who write things like this 'Just hope that as we remember Servicemen and women today we remember the Australia they fought for - wasn't gay marriage and Islamic!' Not sure if the guy who wrote this is for real, if so that's really quite sad. Real or not - he sure got the twitterati riled up after that tweet, there was a flurry of retaliation. I do love the way that social media can get people stirred-up and they fight back with words.

Pigeon for your thoughts

Last week I gave away a little penguin on my blog. This week is still in the avian department and still starts with the wonderful letter 'P' - it's a pigeon. You know those funny little guys at the train station who really dig stale chips and hop about on their mangled popcorn feet. Comment on this post to win yourself this handmade, one of a kind brooch. It's been handmade by me, using a children's book, thrifted from an op-shop. Lend me your thoughts and comment to win! Many more little animal brooches will be at my next market - The BrisStyle Indie Twilight Markets.

The Easter Assimov Bunny

If you hadn't realised that Easter is just around the corner you must not have walked up the aisle in Coles or Woolworths dedicated entirely to a religious holiday. The holiday celebrates the rebirth of a fictional character - which has somehow turned into another fictional character, a mythical bunny who delivers chocolate eggs making people go camping, eat too many calories and make their children 'hunt'. Need I say more? Ricky Gervais has a good article of Eater and also how to be good Christian here. Let there be chocolate, let there be debate.

Creationists make it sound as though a 'theory' is something you dreamt up after being drunk all night. - Issac Assimov.

Nice

I feel much better today as my bung eye is looking much better and I am feeling pretty good about having great friends. Yesterday I got beautiful flowers, and a puppy play date. Today my boyfriend took me to Manly for coffee and then made me lunch. And my wonderful friend came over with all things Scandinavian like fish roe, lingonberry, Swedish biscuits. Plus DVDs, a book, cupcake wrappers and a cute-as little t-duck. In the mail I also got some sweet stuff from my Mum and this random get better soon card. I feel so much better now.

The card my Mum made - I think it has something to with Azaria Chamberlain?

Winners and losers

Firstly, the penguin brooch winner is matou en peluche. You can see her beautiful Etsy shop here. Thank you to all who read and comment on my little blog.

A Flapper girl from Matou en peluche

I've been fairly quiet this week as I had an eye operation on Tuesday and the recovery has been akin to burning in the fiery depths of hell with a bit of day time TV thrown in. All I can say is oh my wordy lordy eyes hurt. I had a skin graft in my right eye, which apart from being a barrel of laughs required 14 stitches. So I have been drinking tea, sleeping and whining for the last several days. It's getting better now - I had a visit from a friend who produced a tiny golden Labrador puppy - medicine for the soul. Onwards and upwards and thank goodness for codeine (and puppies).

Win me a penguin

This wee penguin is up for grabs. To win him just leave me a comment, we bloggers love a comment. The penguin is feeling faint, so he won't be at the BrisStyle indie Twilight Markets at the end of this month - but his little friends will be. So come and say hi on Friday 29 April for 5pm at King George Square in Brisbane. See you back here in a week to see who the winner is!

Mee too!

Took a motor-mo-cycle ride up to beautiful Mt Mee yesterday and had a BBQ. It's so beautiful up there, I want to live there with a pig, a pony and Sybil the dog. I can totally see myself up there in a little cabin with a fire drinking tea.

Taken last time I was there ... so pretty.

- sorry lizard, 'no feeding the animals'.

Use the map ...

My little deer brooch has been featured in this cute map treasury. I think I'm OK with a map - I do have to turn the map as we turn corners etc, but I manage. I have a Tom Tom, but I take it way too literally and I get the shits with it and then get lost.

I don't Lomo anymore

My little LCA camera 'Audrey' has been neglected. I just don't seem to have to the time anymore to Lomo anymore. I have a whizz-bang digital camera that I love, but I really should get the little soviet girl out more often.

Moomin ...

I am about to call my little brother who is in Finland. This post is very Moomin, as they always remind me of him. For Christmas he sent me some cool stuff in a Moomin Finnish Post box. They are weird little guys, kind of like Finnish people really.

April One ...

I pity da fool – I was April Fooled this morning. My Mum sent me a message saying she bought a truck load of vintage Pyrex on eBay and then she sent a message to the boy saying she was waiting at the airport for a pick-up. Oh the hilarity.

After all the foolery I need a weekend to chill the hell out. It’s been a massive week and I’m looking forward to a whole lot of nothing over the next two days. There might be a bit of craft happening as I need to get ready for my next market, the BrisStyle indie Twilight Market on 29 April … woot!
