HCMC to Hoi An

Flying into HCMC is like zooming into Lego land, so many beautiful colours, tiny little rectangular houses lining the delta. The cab ride into town was fantastic, the organised chaos of cars, trucks, scooters and bikes was so surreal from the air conditioned taxi merging and tooting at a leisurely 50km an hour. The city is nuts, fully nuts. After two nights I was ready to go somewhere a little less happening, so we headed to Hoi An.

Hoi An was not exactly what I was expecting. The place is beautiful and the river, lined with heritage buildings is stunning. I just get a bit shirty when there are one million other tourists there. I'm not sure why I thought it would be a little zen, but for me it certainly wasn't. Two nights was more than enough ...

We headed to Da Nang for a beach with less hassling and less sweaty western tourists. Da Nang is gorgeous.
